What is Bowl for Kids' Sake?
Bowl for Kids' Sake is the annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters.Bowl for Kids' Sake is two hours of fun with your family, friends, and co-workers! Bowlers receive free pizza, free shoes, free bowling, prizes - AND the satisfaction of knowing you have helped a child. How Do I Participate As A Team Captain or Bowler?
Form a team of five persons, including a team captain, and then pick a date and time to bowl. Participants collect pledges from their friends, family, co-workers, organizations, and business before their bowling date. Teams turn in their sponsor sheets and any money collected on the day they bowl. Big Brothers Big Sisters will collect any unpaid pledges, so bowlers do not have to go back to their sponsors and collect pledges.
A minimum of $75 in pledges per bowler is required to bowl. Bowlers that raise $100 will receive a T-shirt! Other prizes will be awarded for different pledge levels. How Does Big Brothers Big Sisters Use The Money I Raise?
All funds raised will be used locally to recruit, screen, train and match new volunteers with the 263 children currently waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister. The cost of making and supporting a new match of a volunteer with a child for one year is $1,000. Note: Big Brothers Big Sisters serves children between the ages of 6 - 14 in Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties. Youth are matched with a caring Big Brother or Big Sister volunteer. In 2008, over 1,000 children were matched with a volunteer and currently 263 children are ready to be matched and waiting for a special friend. The agency has partnerships with more than 35 area schools in our School Mentoring program.
